Dr. Michael Gjerstad is part of the IISS-Europe and its Defence and Military Analysis research programme as a land warfare analyst, and conducts research on Russian defence industry, force structures, and battlefield adaptations. His work translates this into strategic insights on current and emerging threats for Ukraine, NATO, and European security. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Southern Denmark.
